New Dutch Prime Minister’s speech

Speech by the prime minister Mark Rutte of the new Dutch administration, declared on 26th of October. One of the important goals is to cut into what he calls “governmental obesity”. The main theme of his speech was “snoeien om te groeien” (cutting down costs to boost growth), which I translated in “trimming to get economy spinning” (to keep the rhyme). The new administration wants to decentralize whenever it is possible, and to centralize whenever it is easier to manage. E.g. the new coalition wants to form one national police force (at present there are 26 local forces in the Netherlands).

Mark Rutte is the first liberal prime minister since 1913.
